The Christopher Soper Design Centre – Opening
August 30, 2017
AVA and Stead McAlpin are delighted to announce the launch of The Christopher Soper Design Centre at the end of September 2017. The hub will be located onsite at Stead McAlpin’s factory in Carlisle.
We are excited to announce that the centre will be opened by HRH the Duchess of Gloucester.
The aim of the design centre is to facilitate the start-up process for enterprising new textile design businesses and to support the education of textile design trainees.
Selected interns and entrepreneurs will use the design centre to assist them in their careers and kick start their businesses. During their time at the centre they’ll be given opportunities to advance their technical knowledge whilst receiving advice and guidance from industry experts.
As part of this unique opportunity, designers will have access to AVA work stations, digital printing facilities and wet rooms as well as design archives dating back to the nineteenth century.
The first lucky entrepreneur will start their journey at the centre in January 2018.
Watch this space! We are extremely excited about this new initiative, bringing education and industry closer together and hopefully helping to launch the next big name in textile design.
