Ulster Weavers use AVA for design origination and for separating and recolouring textile designs. Although Photoshop and Illustrator are also used in the studio, AVA is essential for the much of the work. We rely on it heavily for repeating and separating as it allows us to output the files in exactly the right format for the factory. It saves a lot of time as we don’t have to communicate ideas back and forth repeatedly, not to mention cost as we don’t have to commission the factory to do what our own design team can already do in-house. What we send to the factory is exactly what we receive as a finished product and it works really well. The software is easy to use and despite AVA’s recommendations to calibrate regularly, we haven’t done so in a year but we’re still happy with the colour match. We don’t tend to use the Tech Support line very often as we’re pretty competent but if we do need it anytime, they are very helpful and our questions are always answered quickly.
“I highly recommend AVA – you can’t do textile design without it.” Olive Rankin, Creative Design Manager
